This page is for reference only. Warranty acceptance occurs at booking and vehicle collection.

⚠️ IMPORTANT LEGAL NOTICE - READ CAREFULLY

This written warranty document constitutes the complete and entire agreement between Autobits and the customer regarding warranty coverage.

  • No verbal statements, promises, or representations made by Autobits staff, whether in person, by phone, via WhatsApp, email, or any other communication method, modify, extend, or alter this written warranty in any way.
  • Only written agreements signed by both Autobits management and the customer are legally binding.
  • Warranty acceptance occurs at booking (via tick box acknowledgment) and at vehicle collection (via signed handover documentation).
Your Consumer Rights: This warranty is offered in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under Irish consumer law, including the Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980 and the Consumer Rights Act 2022.

Example: If you collect your vehicle on 1st January 2026 with Standard Warranty:
  • Warranty ENDS: 1st April 2026 at 23:59 OR at 5,000km
  • Whichever happens first
  • No exceptions, no extensions, no adjustments

What IS NOT Covered - Exclusions

The following components, issues, and circumstances are explicitly excluded from warranty coverage:

Excluded Components:
  • Turbochargers (all turbo-related issues - see FAQ)
  • Fuel system: injectors, fuel pumps, fuel rails, fuel lines
  • Electrical: ECUs, wiring harnesses, sensors, alternators
  • Cooling: water pumps, thermostats, radiators, fans, hoses, oil coolers
  • Gaskets and seals not replaced as part of the rebuild scope
  • Clutches, flywheels, gearboxes, transmissions
  • DPFs, EGR valves, catalytic converters
  • Boost pipes, intercoolers, intake manifolds
  • Exhaust systems and components
  • Air conditioning and climate control
  • All external ancillary components
Excluded Circumstances:
  • Any ECU remapping or software modifications (instant void - see below)
  • Customer-supplied parts and components
  • Components sourced at customer request (even if Autobits sourced/fitted them)
  • Misuse, neglect, or aggressive driving
  • Improper servicing or poor maintenance
  • Failure to complete mandatory service intervals
  • Unauthorised modifications or repairs
  • Oil starvation, contamination, or incorrect oil specification
  • Failure to follow break-in procedures (first 2,000km)
  • Tampering or third-party repairs before Autobits inspection
  • Disassembled or altered engines
  • Motorsport, track use, or dyno tuning
  • Non-road legal modifications
  • Issues not reported through official Warranty Claim Portal
⚠️ Transportation Costs:

All costs associated with transporting your vehicle to and from Autobits premises for warranty inspection or repair are the customer's sole responsibility. We do not operate recovery vehicles and do not reimburse towing fees under any circumstances.

🚫ECU Remapping Policy - CRITICAL

ANY ECU remapping or software modifications INSTANTLY VOID warranty coverage.
Pre-Collection ECU Verification:

Before your vehicle is released for collection, we scan the ECU for any modifications.

  • If remap is detected: It MUST be returned to factory stock specification BEFORE you collect the vehicle
  • Options:
    • Autobits can return ECU to stock (€150 charge)
    • OR you can arrange for it to be returned to stock elsewhere before collection
    • OR you acknowledge in writing that warranty is void from collection
  • No exceptions: No vehicle leaves Autobits premises with active ECU remap AND warranty coverage

Why this matters:

  • Remapped engines run higher boost, temperatures, and stress
  • This increases risk of component failure
  • Your engine is rebuilt to factory specifications
  • Operating beyond these specifications voids all coverage
  • We cannot warranty performance modifications we did not perform
"I Didn't Know It Was Remapped":

Warranty is void regardless of whether you were aware of the remap. If a remap is discovered after you have collected the vehicle (even if found during a warranty claim), coverage is void from the date of collection. This is why we verify ECU status BEFORE handover.

What We Do NOT Promise or Guarantee

Important clarifications about warranty scope and limitations:

Performance Characteristics:
  • We do not guarantee specific fuel economy, power output, or torque figures beyond factory specifications for a properly functioning rebuilt engine
  • Oil consumption: Oil consumption up to the vehicle manufacturer's specified normal range is not considered a defect. Normal oil consumption varies by manufacturer and engine type. If you have concerns, we will perform diagnostic testing (compression tests, leak-down tests) to determine if internal engine components (covered) or auxiliary systems (not covered) are the cause.
  • Engine performance depends on the condition and compatibility of auxiliary systems not covered by this warranty
Pre-Existing Issues:
  • This warranty does not cover diagnosis or repair of issues that existed prior to the rebuild
  • Customers must disclose all known vehicle issues before rebuild work commences
  • Undisclosed issues discovered after rebuild completion are not covered by warranty
Auxiliary System Compatibility:
  • A rebuilt engine operating at full factory strength may place additional stress on aging auxiliary components (turbochargers, fuel systems, cooling systems, etc.)
  • We are not responsible for auxiliary component failures that occur because older components cannot cope with a properly functioning rebuilt engine
  • Customers are advised that older auxiliary components may require replacement to support a fully rebuilt engine
Customer-Supplied and Third-Party Components:

Important: Components not supplied by Autobits (including parts sourced at customer request using customer funds) are not covered by Autobits warranty, even if we install them.

  • Autobits does not manufacture turbochargers, injectors, or other auxiliary components
  • Warranty coverage for customer-supplied parts comes from the component supplier, not Autobits
  • Autobits provides installation services only for customer-supplied components
  • Any warranty claims on customer-supplied components must be directed to the component supplier or manufacturer
  • We can assist in liaising with suppliers, but Autobits is not responsible for third-party supplier warranty claims or outcomes

📥Warranty Compliance Requirements - MANDATORY

To maintain warranty coverage, you MUST comply with all of the following requirements:

Service Intervals (CRITICAL):

Specific service intervals and oil specifications for YOUR engine will be clearly stated in your Engine Handover Document provided at collection.

Typical intervals:

  • First service: Before 500km from collection
  • Second service: At 1,000km from collection

Oil specification will vary by engine:

  • 5W-20, 5W-30, or 5W-40 fully synthetic
  • Manufacturer specification (VW 507.00, Ford WSS-M2C917-A, etc.)
  • Your specific requirements will be documented in your handover paperwork
Missing ANY service interval voids warranty immediately without exception.
Documentation Requirements:
  • Upload clear photos of odometer at each service interval
  • Upload service receipts showing:
    • Date of service
    • Odometer reading
    • Oil specification used
    • Garage/mechanic details
  • Submit through Warranty Compliance Portal
Automatic Reminders:

We will send email reminders:

  • 30 days after collection: First service reminder (if no upload received)
  • 60 days after collection: Second service reminder (if no upload received)

You can use your own mechanic, but documentation must be clear, dated, and show correct oil specification was used. Third-party interference (repairs, modifications, disassembly) before Autobits warranty inspection voids coverage.

🚗MANDATORY Break-In Procedure (First 2,000km)

Following proper break-in procedure is CRITICAL for engine longevity and is REQUIRED for warranty coverage.

DO NOT:
  • Exceed 3,000 RPM
  • Use full throttle or heavy acceleration
  • Tow trailers or carry heavy loads
  • Let engine idle for extended periods (>10 minutes)
  • Drive at constant RPM for long distances
  • Use cruise control for extended periods
DO:
  • Vary engine speed regularly
  • Use gentle acceleration and deceleration
  • Allow engine to warm up before driving
  • Check oil level every 200km
  • Report any warning lights immediately
  • Complete all service intervals on time
Failure to follow break-in guidelines voids warranty. Aggressive driving, high RPM usage, or heavy loading during break-in period can damage internal components and will void all coverage.

📋How to File a Warranty Claim

Required Documentation:

All warranty claims must include the following information submitted via our Warranty Claim Portal:

  • Written description of the issue
  • Date issue was first noticed
  • Current odometer reading
  • Photographic or video evidence (if applicable)
  • Complete service history documentation
  • Proof of warranty compliance (service interval uploads)
⚠️ CRITICAL: Verbal complaints, WhatsApp messages, phone calls, or emails do NOT constitute formal warranty claims. Only claims submitted through our official Warranty Claim Portal are recognized for warranty purposes. This creates a documented record with timestamps for legal protection.
Claims Process:
  1. Submit claim through official portal with all required documentation
  2. Autobits will review claim and request vehicle inspection if necessary
  3. Customer arranges transportation to Autobits premises (at customer's expense)
  4. Autobits performs diagnostic testing to determine cause (compression tests, leak-down tests, visual inspection, etc.)
  5. If issue is caused by covered internal components: Repair completed under warranty at no cost
  6. If issue is caused by excluded components or circumstances: Customer notified with repair quote

Processing Time: Claims are typically reviewed within 2-3 business days. Diagnostic work and repair scheduling may require additional time depending on complexity and parts availability.

⚖️Dispute Resolution

In the event of a warranty dispute between Autobits and the customer:

  1. Customer must first submit a detailed claim via the Warranty Claim Portal
  2. Autobits will inspect the vehicle and provide a written assessment with diagnostic findings
  3. If the dispute remains unresolved, both parties agree to attempt mediation before pursuing legal action
  4. All correspondence regarding disputes must be in writing (email or portal messages)
  5. Irish law governs all warranty disputes
  6. Venue for any legal proceedings is Ireland

Evidence Standard: Documented evidence (written records, photographs, diagnostic reports, service receipts, portal submissions) takes precedence over verbal claims or recollections. Warranty terms are binding as written above. Modifications to this warranty require a written agreement signed by Autobits management and the customer.

What Happens If... Common Scenarios

Clear answers to common "what if" questions:

Warranty is void. No exceptions. The service intervals are critical for proper break-in and engine protection. We send email reminders at 30 and 60 days to help you stay compliant, but ultimately it is your responsibility to complete services on time.

Upload it as soon as you remember. We send email reminders if we haven't received documentation. However, if a warranty claim arises and you cannot provide proof of services, your claim may be denied. Keep all receipts and upload promptly.

Warranty is void. YOU are responsible for ensuring the correct oil specification is used. The required specification is clearly stated in your Engine Handover Document. Provide this to your mechanic and verify the receipt shows the correct oil was used before submitting documentation.

Warranty is void regardless of whether you knew. This is why we scan all ECUs before vehicle handover and require remaps to be removed BEFORE you collect the vehicle. If a remap is discovered after collection (even during a warranty claim investigation), warranty is void from the collection date. Have the ECU returned to factory specification immediately if you want warranty protection.

Verbal complaints, WhatsApp messages, phone calls, or emails are not recognized as formal warranty claims. Only submissions through our official Warranty Claim Portal create a documented, timestamped record for warranty purposes. This protects both you and us by creating clear documentation of issues, dates, and responses.

Brief, accidental excursions slightly over 3,000 RPM (such as during an emergency maneuver) are understandable. However, consistent high RPM usage, full throttle acceleration, or aggressive driving during the break-in period will void warranty. Use common sense and drive gently for the first 2,000km.

Turbochargers are explicitly excluded from warranty. If a failing turbo causes damage to internal engine components, this is considered "damage caused by external component failure" which is excluded per warranty terms. We recommend addressing any turbo issues immediately to prevent cascading damage. We cannot warranty damage caused by components we don't cover.

🔒Warranty Transferability - NON-TRANSFERABLE

Warranties are NON-TRANSFERABLE and apply ONLY to the original customer.

The warranty relationship exists solely between Autobits and the original customer who commissioned and paid for the engine rebuild. This warranty is personal to that customer and cannot be assigned, transferred, or passed on to any other party.

If the vehicle is sold or transferred:
  • All warranty coverage terminates immediately upon sale or transfer of the vehicle to a new owner, regardless of any remaining warranty period or kilometre allowance
  • The new owner has no warranty relationship with Autobits
  • Autobits is under no obligation to inspect, diagnose, or repair the vehicle for any subsequent owner
  • Any representations made by the seller to the buyer regarding warranty coverage are not binding on Autobits

For Vehicle Sellers:

If you are selling a vehicle with an Autobits engine rebuild, please be aware that the warranty does not transfer to the new owner. Any claims by the new owner must be directed to you as the seller, not to Autobits. Do not advertise or represent that Autobits warranty coverage will apply to subsequent owners.

For Vehicle Buyers:

If you have purchased a vehicle with an Autobits engine rebuild from a private seller or dealer, please note that the original warranty does not transfer to you. If you have concerns about the engine, contact us to discuss inspection options and potential coverage (subject to assessment and fees). Your consumer rights against the person who sold you the vehicle remain unaffected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, absolutely. Service intervals are specified in your Engine Handover Document (typically before 500km and at 1,000km). You must complete ALL services using the correct oil specification provided in your handover paperwork. Missing ANY service interval will void your warranty without exception. Upload proof of each service to our Warranty Compliance Portal.

Your warranty is immediately void. There are no exceptions. The service intervals are critical for proper engine break-in and to ensure components are bedding in correctly. We send automatic email reminders at 30 and 60 days after collection to help you stay compliant.

Yes, you can use any qualified mechanic. However, all receipts must be clear, dated correctly, and show the correct oil specification was used. Photos of the odometer must be clear and match the service records. Any third-party interference (repairs, modifications, disassembly) before Autobits warranty inspection will void your claim. Give your mechanic the oil specification from your Engine Handover Document.

You must use the exact oil specification stated in your Engine Handover Document. This varies by engine and manufacturer. Common specifications include:
  • 5W-20, 5W-30, or 5W-40 viscosity (as specified)
  • Fully synthetic (always required)
  • Manufacturer specification: VW 507.00 (VAG engines), Ford WSS-M2C917-A (Ford engines), etc.
Your specific requirement will be clearly stated in your handover paperwork. If unsure, contact us BEFORE your service. Using incorrect oil voids warranty.

Upload them immediately through our Warranty Compliance Portal and send us an email to notify us. We understand that life happens, but we must have all documentation on file to maintain your warranty coverage. We send automatic reminders if documentation is not received within expected timeframes. Do not delay.

If the noise is from an internal component that was replaced during the rebuild (pistons, valves, timing chain, camshaft, etc.), it is covered by warranty. If it's from an external component like an injector ticking, a failing turbo bearing, or auxiliary pulley, it is not covered. Contact us immediately and we'll help you diagnose the source of the noise. File a claim through our portal with a description and video if possible.

Stop using the vehicle immediately and contact us. Power loss is often caused by simple issues like a boost pipe that has disconnected, or an older auxiliary component (turbo wastegate actuator, fuel pump, etc.) that cannot keep up with the fully rebuilt engine. File a warranty claim through our portal immediately with a description of symptoms. If it's rebuild-related (internal components), you're covered. If it's an auxiliary component, we can still help diagnose and provide a quote, but it would not be warranty work.

It is the customer's sole responsibility to arrange and pay for transportation to Autobits premises. We can recommend reliable recovery companies if needed, but we do not operate recovery vehicles and do not reimburse towing fees under any circumstances. This applies to all warranty inspections and repairs.

Turbochargers are not manufactured or reconditioned by Autobits and are explicitly excluded from our warranty. You will need to contact the turbo supplier directly for their warranty coverage. We are happy to liaise with the turbo supplier on your behalf if you need assistance. We are not responsible for any damage caused by a failing turbocharger, as turbos are excluded components per warranty terms.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide warranty coverage for your original turbocharger or any damage caused by a failing turbo. Turbochargers are explicitly excluded from our warranty coverage. If your turbo fails and requires replacement, we can provide a competitive quote for turbo replacement and installation, but this would be paid work outside of warranty coverage.

No, your warranty is void from collection. Any ECU remapping or software modifications, including DPF/EGR removal, immediately void all warranty coverage. Before you collect your vehicle, we scan the ECU for modifications. If a remap is found, it must be returned to factory stock specification BEFORE you can collect the vehicle with warranty coverage. Removing emissions equipment physically and/or digitally alters vehicle performance and stress levels beyond the factory specifications your engine was rebuilt to.

Unfortunately, the warranty is void regardless of whether you were aware of the remap. The vehicle's performance has been altered beyond factory specifications. This is why we verify ECU status with diagnostic tools BEFORE you collect the vehicle - it gives you the opportunity to have it returned to stock specification before warranty coverage begins. If a remap is discovered after collection, warranty is void from the collection date.

We use professional diagnostic tools that communicate with your vehicle's ECU and detect software modifications. Signs of remapping include: modified boost pressure tables, altered fuel injection timing, disabled emissions systems (DPF/EGR), modified rev limiter, etc. If we suspect your vehicle has been remapped (during pre-collection check or during warranty claim investigation), we reserve the right to perform a full ECU diagnostic scan.

Standard Warranty: 3 months OR 5,000km from collection (whichever occurs first)
Extended Warranty: 6 months OR 10,000km from collection (whichever occurs first)

As of 1st August 2025, Extended Warranty became an optional add-on purchase at booking. Vehicles completed after this date receive Standard Warranty unless Extended is purchased. Vehicles completed before 1st August 2025 receive Extended Warranty by default. Both warranties cover the same components - Extended just provides double the time and kilometre coverage.

No. Warranties are non-transferable. Our warranty applies only to the original customer who commissioned and paid for the rebuild. When a vehicle is sold or transferred to a new owner, all warranty coverage terminates immediately, regardless of any remaining warranty period. If the seller told you the warranty would transfer, that representation was made by them, not by us - any issues should be directed to the person who sold you the vehicle. If you have concerns about your engine, contact us to discuss inspection options (subject to assessment and fees).

No. Warranties cannot be transferred. Once you sell your vehicle, the warranty coverage ends. Please do not advertise or represent to potential buyers that Autobits warranty coverage will apply to them - it will not. The new owner's consumer rights are against you as the seller, not against Autobits. If you have an active warranty and are considering selling, be aware that the warranty terminates upon sale regardless of remaining coverage period.

First, check if there are any visible external oil leaks (rocker cover gasket, oil filter housing, etc.). File a warranty claim through our portal with details about oil consumption rate (litres per kilometres driven). We will perform diagnostic testing including compression tests and leak-down tests to determine if the issue is caused by internal engine components (covered) or auxiliary systems like turbocharger, PCV system, or oil cooler (not covered). Oil consumption within manufacturer specifications is considered normal and is not a warranty issue.

If an internal component (head gasket, cylinder head, block) is causing coolant loss, it is covered under warranty. File a claim immediately through our portal. We will ask if there are visible external leaks and will perform pressure testing to rule out cooling system components (radiator, hoses, water pump, thermostat housing) which are not covered. Contact us immediately if you notice coolant loss - do not continue driving as this can cause serious engine damage.

Click the "File a Warranty Claim" button at the top or bottom of this page to submit your claim through our official Warranty Claim Portal. Provide as much detail as possible including symptoms, when the issue started, current mileage, and any photos or videos. This is the ONLY method for filing formal warranty claims - verbal complaints or messages are not recognized for warranty purposes.
